Our Story
Wild Remedies was started by two friends living amidst the ancient forests of Lutruwita in Southern Tasmania. Inspired by the abundance of wild fungi and equipped with years of experience in mycology, ecology, and health, we began foraging and preserving mushrooms. We delighted in the flavours and benefits of Reishi & Turkey Tail infusions and relished in the nourishment provided by sautéed wild harvested Lion's Mane.
Feeling the benefits of these mushrooms, we started exploring alternative methods to get the most out of the mushrooms and support our immune systems, boost our brain power, and increase our energy levels. After years of research and experimenting, we finally arrived at an empirically based method for extracting and preserving the bioactive compounds naturally produced in each mushroom.
We shared our carefully crafted creations with family and friends, and they encouraged us to take on the challenge of sharing our products with a wider community and grow into a sustainable social enterprise. Recognising the potential for a high quality, sustainably produced mushroom elixir in Australia, we began to understand that we would need to produce elixirs from farm-grown fungi to supplement our range of wild harvest elixirs.
Within this, we are mindful to deliberately limit the size of our business and use best practice foraging techniques that enable us to cultivate a healthy reciprocal relationship with the forests we rely on. We cherish the allure of wild mushrooms, harvesting them responsibly to honour their roles within their natural habitats. Our passion lies in connecting people to the bountiful gifts of nature, offering a selection of wild mushroom elixirs that capture the essence of the untamed world.
Our mushroom elixirs are made with premium spirits and natural spring water from the Tasmanian southern ranges. We choose to use recycled and natural material packaging which means our products arrive to you free from plastics.
